About the Red Saddlebags Dragonfly (Tramea onusta):
This dragonfly is also known as the red-mantled saddlebags or red-mantled
glider. Their distribution range is from Indiana to the Pacific Ocean.
Tramea is the genus of saddlebags gliders. There are seven species in the
genus. The red saddlebags dragonfly is very similar to the Carolina
Saddlebags.
About dragonfly migration:
A 2006 article in ScienceDaily reported that scientists have found similar
behaviors between migrating dragonflies and migrating songbirds. For
example, both have stopover and migration days and both avoid migration on
windier days.
