Common names for the Nassau grouper, according to the Florida Museum of Natural History, include day grouper, hamlet, rockfish, sweet lip, and white grouper. The Nassau grouper is a saltwater fish found in the tropics of the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico. They eat fish, shrimp, crab, lobster, and octopuses. The Nassau grouper is on the list of Species of Concern (US National Marine Fisheries). In deeper waters, this grouper's color changes to pink or red.
